Come along as we go hiking in Denali National Park. We hope to get back to the park for more hiking before we leave Alaska.
Mt. Healy Overlook Trail
The Mt. Healy Overlook Trail is 2.7 miles one way with 1700 ft. in elevation gain. But it’s worth it.
The views up there are beautiful!
Other than this guy we didn’t see any animals. But we did find moose poop.
If you’re worried about running into bears while hiking in Denali National Park, this is a well-traveled trail, and you will see people on it regularly. After the first part of the path, you start to lose tree coverage. So be prepared with sunscreen.
Triple Lakes Trail
At 9.5 miles, the Triple Lakes Trail is the longest trail in Denali National Park. It was a crappy day, and we had no intention of doing the whole thing, especially after Mt. Healy the day before.
We started at the southern end off of Alaska Highway 3, so we would get to see the lakes pretty quickly.
There were few people on the trail so definitely be bear aware here. Bring your bear bells and spray.
We didn’t quite make it to the second lake. Trees shade most of the trail we hiked so it would be a perfect choice on a hot day.
That was not nearly enough hiking in Denali National Park. We fully plan to hit it again before we leave Alaska.
