Ingredients

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp tahini

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cup whole wheat pastry flour or unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ginger
  • 1/8 tsp cloves
  • 1/8 tsp mace optional

Add Ins

  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup walnuts coarsely chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375ºF. Spray a 9" x 9" square baking pan with cooking spray or use a silicon one.
  • Mix all of the wet ingredients together in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Mix all the dry ingredients together in a medium bowl and whisk together until well combined.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until just combined. Add the raisins and walnuts and stir until mixed in. This will be a thick batter.
  • Spread the batter in the baking pan and bake for 20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool before serving.

Notes
