Sightseeing in Vancouver

public mural in vancouver, bc.

In this video, we go sightseeing in Vancouver. We check out Granville Island, the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, public murals and, of course, we eat some vegan food. As always.

Burnaby Cariboo RV Park

So, Burnaby Cariboo RV Park is a pretty, older RV park. It was clearly designed at a time when RVs were much smaller. The hedges between the sites seem like a good idea unless you have slides. We ended up with our slide mashed up against a bush.

The park was convenient to Vancouver without being too in the thick of it. Oh, and they had a hot tub and it was open. It was a little pricey but we were ready to splurge after our drive down from Alaska.

Paradise Vegetarian

When there’s a vegan Vietnamese spot a mile from the campground, you’ve gotta go check it out! At least we do.

We got roast pork rolls, I got the phô and Kevin got a combo that included more fresh rolls, fried rolls, and fried chicken chunks with sauces.

The big cube in my phô was daikon radish! Everything was tasty.

Sightseeing in Vancouver

Granville Island

We checked out Granville Island on many recommendations for sightseeing in Vancouver. Here you’ll find a marina, lots of shops, public art and performances.

Public Market

The main draw on Granville Island is the Public Market.

It’s really similar to Pike Place Market in Seattle. You’ll find stalls with vendors selling produce, meats, baked goods, and prepared foods.

Laurelle’s Fine Foods

There were a couple of places with vegan options, but we zeroed in on Laurelle’s Fine Foods and their baked goods. We tried a cookie, a brownie, and a peanut butter Nanaimo bar.

Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden

After Granville Island, we stopped by the Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden.

Sadly, a couple of months after our visit a river otter somehow got into the gardens and ate most of the adult koi, some of which were 50 years old!

After the Chinese gardens, we checked out China Town.

And then we got a better look at the murals we saw when we were at the Mount Pleasant Veg Fest.

The Arbor

All that sightseeing in Vancouver has worked up an appetite! We decided to check out The Arbor, the more casual sister to their other restaurant The Acorn.

We tried the fried artichoke nuggets, the pulled jackfruit steamed buns, fried artichoke wrap, an Arburger, onion rings, and the seasonal salad. Hey, guess who got the seasonal salad? (That would be me.) And for some reason I forgot to take a photo. It’s in the video though!

And we all split a chocolate mousse parfait because none of us could handle a desert on our own.

All in all we had a lovely time sightseeing in Vancouver. But we’re not done yet! We’ll have a little more fun around Vancouver in the next post.

Next post: Biking the Stanley Park Seawall Bike Trail.
