Vehicle Must-Haves For Your Next Off-Road Adventure

If you are up for a new adventure, then off road driving could be for you. Of course, it's dangerous for the unprepared, so you need to make sure that your vehicle is kitted out and ready to be off the main roads and into the dirt tracks. You should never underestimate just how easily a vehicle can become damaged by flying debris, fallen branches and other road debris. If you're an experienced driver, you may still get nervous on dirt tracks and mountain roads, so going off roading may feel like a big deal to you. It should, because it is.

There are plenty of reasons to head off road. Maybe you want to go camping in the wilderness, or you know an amazing place where you can go cycling or biking in the mountains. You already know how to equip your car for that with a bike rack for SUV use. However, if you haven't prepared your car for being off road in the first place, then you need these tips below.

  1. Body Lift Kit. One of the best ways that you can ensure that your car stays safe on an off road adventure is to lift it up. Raising its ride height with a body lift kit will ensure that your vehicle takes a lot less damage from any bumps, rocks and debris. Lots of rocks can be kicked up fairly quickly and damage the undercarriage, but you can avoid that. Consider that from an aesthetic standpoint, body lifts can make your vehicle more imposing and eye-catching because it's going to be bigger than the average. You could also install bigger tyres as long as the body is lifted higher off the frame.
  2. Install a bull bar. A great off road accessory is designed to protect your vehicle and that would be from a bull bar. These are installed to ensure that your vehicle doesn't take too much damage if it collides with pedestrians, animals or other vehicles. Off road you may find more wildlife that tend to run out in front of you, and depending on where you live in the world, that can range from anything from a moose to a stag to a wombat. These are heavy hitting animals and your car can be severely damaged, but with a bull bar you can take the pressure off. They serve as push bumpers that keep things like rocks and trees away from your vehicle too.
  3. An off road bumper. This is definitely an upgrade that's worth doing if you're keen for off-road adventures because it's designed to absorb and redirect any impact. If you have a minor collision, you can reduce the severity of damage to your vehicle in the same way that a bull bar can work. All vehicles come with bumpers, but off road bumpers are specifically designed for you being off road so that you can stay safe on rough terrain. Driving along the wilderness is not easy because there are many obstacles off the beaten path.
