Vegan items at Costco in Anchorage, Alaska

Are there enough vegan items at Costco for a membership to be worth it? When we first started RVing, we thought Costco would be overkill. Where would we put large packages of food and dry goods?

But it turns out; we have found Costco to be a money saver even though we don’t buy a ton of things there. Since a few of you are curious about what we eat, we thought we’d share a Costco run.

Here’s what we picked up this trip:

My Prescriptions – I always check GoodRX to see where it’s cheapest to get them filled. It turned out to be Costco in Anchorage.

Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant – these are usually around $8 when you buy them individually. Ouch! The three packs run about $15 at Costco.

La Croix – I like La Croix but in a pinch will by whatever store brand of sparkling water is cheapest. So it’s a treat when we go to Costco, and I can get the name brand.

Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk – Some non-dairy milk has added oil or sugar. This one has neither.

Vegan Burgers – Kevin eats the Don Lee Farms vegan burgers Costco recently started carrying, but there’s too much oil in them for me.

Frozen Blueberries – We have blueberries on our oatmeal every morning. If I had space, I’d get that 5-pound bag, but 3 pounds is about our freezer’s limit.

Rolled Oats – We go through one cup of dry oats a day, and that adds up!

Peanut Butter Powder – Kevin adds peanut butter powder to his morning oats.

Almond Butter – I eat almond butter instead of peanut butter on sandwiches. This one has no additives. It’s just ground almonds. I also use it to make some dressings and sauces.

Hummus – I’d prefer a no-oil hummus, but $5.50 for that giant tub is hard to beat.

Tofu – Tofu is expensive up in Alaska. We’ve seen it anywhere from $2.50 to $6. We use it all the time.

Oranges – Fruit up here has also been expensive. I’ve been paying about $2.25 per orange or apple. Yikes! So $10.99 for an 8-pound bag is a bargain.

Crackers – We use these as a hummus delivery device. Costco usually has at least one vegan cracker with minimal oil.

Walnuts – Walnuts also go in our oatmeal every morning. They’ve been running $10/pound up here, so three pounds for around $15 is excellent!

Other vegan items at Costco we sometimes buy: matcha powder, chia seeds, flax seeds, brown rice, and kombucha.

Vegan prepared foods at Costco

Costco has recently added some vegan options to their fast food at the front of the store. We loved the acai bowl. The Al Pastor salad is vegan, but you’ll have to ask to make sure the sauce is vegan. They’re also supposed to have a vegan hotdog, but we didn’t see it at the Anchorage store.

That’s about it! Are there any vegan items at Costco we’ve overlooked? Let us know, and we’ll look for it next time!
